BOTOX®
Cosmetic Injection

BOTOX is an FDA-approved neuromodulator that is used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. It is a popular non-surgical anti-aging treatment that can assist people in achieving a youthful appearance without surgery or extensive downtime. At Jade Phoenix Aesthetic Medicine, we specialize in providing BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments that are safe, effective, and quick. You can schedule a free consultation to ensure you get your desired results.

How does BOTOX Work?

BOTOX works by blocking nerve impulses, which in turn relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles and lines on the face. The active ingredient of BOTOX, botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A), is injected into specific muscles to reduce muscle activity. This helps soften dynamic wrinkles such as forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, and more. When the muscles relax, so do these dynamic wrinkles, giving you a younger-looking appearance.

Can BOTOX be combined with other treatments?

Yes! BOTOX and dermal fillers are a great combination that we offer at Jade Phoenix Aesthetic Medicine. For a balanced, overall rejuvenating effect, neurotoxins help to smooth lines and wrinkles on the upper areas of the face, whereas dermal fillers help to restore lost volume on the cheeks and plump skin, as well as smooth lines around the mouth and nose.

Frequently Asked Questions

Depending on the individual, BOTOX treatments can last anywhere from three to six months. After that time period, you may need to schedule a follow-up appointment for another treatment. Your injector will be able to give you more detailed information during your consultation.

After your treatment, you should expect some minor side effects such as redness and swelling at the injection site. These side effects are usually temporary and will resolve on their own. You may experience slight bruising which can be covered with makeup if needed. It’s important to avoid any strenuous activity or alcohol for about 24 hours following your treatment, as this can increase the risk of complications.  You should also avoid rubbing or massaging the area for about an hour after your treatment to ensure that the injection sites are not disturbed.

No. You should be able to return to your regular schedule immediately following your treatment. You may experience minor side effects, however, including slight swelling, pinpoint bleeding, and bruising. We will work with you to reduce the risk of these side effects and help speed your recovery if they do occur. For example, icing before and after your treatment is one of the best ways to reduce swelling and bruising.
No. The goal with neurotoxins is to reduce wrinkle-rousing muscle movement, not freeze your face. Keep in mind that Botox only relaxes targeted muscles. If you are reducing forehead lines, for example, you will experience limited movement for certain forehead muscles until the neuromodulator wears off, within four months following your session for most. However, you should never look frozen. Only you should be able to tell you’ve had treatment.

Most patients report minimal discomfort associated with their BOTOX treatments. Our team at Jade Phoenix Aesthetic Medicine takes every necessary precaution to ensure that all of our patients are comfortable during and after their treatments.  We may use topical numbing agents or ice packs prior to the treatment to minimize any discomfort.

Most patients begin to see results two or three days after their treatment. The full effects of BOTOX can take up to two weeks to fully develop. It’s important to keep in mind that everyone responds differently and the results may vary from person to person. During your consultation with our experienced injectors, they will be able to provide you with a better understanding of how long you can expect your treatment to last.
